Livium expands battery recycling with BYD Australia and Sell & Parker

Livium, previously known as Lithium Australia, has signed agreements with EV supplier BYD Australia and national metal recycling business Sell & Parker to expand battery recycling.

Through its subsidiary Envirostream Australia, Livium has entered into a new expanded recycling agreement with BYD Australia to better address the growing requirements of the broader BYD business in the Australian market. Effective from May 2025, the three-year agreement appoints Livium as BYD’s preferred supplier of recycling services for commercial vehicle battery ranges and battery energy storage systems, in addition to EV batteries. BYD has committed to send unspecified minimum volumes of end-of-life batteries to Livium.

The companies are working to expand the service to New Zealand, the Pacific Islands, and the greater Oceania region, Livium said.

“Expanding our recycling scope with the BYD Company group in Australia demonstrates the quality of Envirostream’s services. In the short time working together our volume expectations have been exceeded, and we are excited to expand our partnership through this new agreement,” said Livium CEO and Managing Director Simon Linge.

Envirostream has also extended its relationship with Sell & Parker, securing a recycling agreement in excess of A$5.0 million ($3.2 million). The agreement has the potential to be Livium’s largest ever recycling contract with revenues over the next 12 months anticipated at A$3.0 million, equivalent to 45% of the company’s total revenues in the 2024 financial year (FY24).

Envirostream will provide recycling services to Sell & Parker under a subcontract arrangement. Sell & Parker has engaged Envirostream to safely dispose of materials containing embedded batteries through its facilities in Victoria.

The three-year agreement delivered the first volumes in May 2025 and anticipates further volumes delivered consistently during FY26 and into FY27, Livium stated.

Livium will receive fees from Sell & Parker for providing recycling services for project-related materials.

“This Agreement with Sell & Parker has the potential to be Envirostream’s largest ever recycling contract on a revenue basis. Project agreements, such as this one, are important to deliver volumes whilst e-mobility and energy storage volumes grow year on year,” Linge said. “Securing this contact demonstrates Sell & Parker’s confidence in our governance and safety standards.”
