Littelfuse launches new high-speed semiconductor fuses

Circuit protection manufacturer Littelfuse has added 275 new fuses to its line of POWR-SPEED PSR high-speed fuses. The new fuses come in various sizes and amperages, and feature bolted and DIN rail mounting options.

Littelfuse designed its PSR series fuses for use in power conversion and conditioning equipment for critical semiconductor devices such as diodes, triacs, IGBTs, SCRs (silicon-controlled rectifiers) and MOSFETs. The company says the fuses are ideal for EV charging stations, high-power DC systems, and battery protection in energy storage systems.

The PSR series also offers:

  • Different mounting terminations, including bladed and flush-mount options
  • Silicon sealant that prevents filler leakage, increasing fuse reliability
  • Up to 20% more DC voltage in standard package size than existing products
  • Up to 70% more DC interrupting rating than existing products

The square design of the fuse body accommodates up to 2,000 amps with up to 70% DC interrupting rating.

“Modern day power semiconductor devices are especially vulnerable to thermal surges and overcurrent conditions,” said Littelfuse Project Manager Sakthidharan Krishnamoorthy. “PSR series fuses are engineered to optimize protection and reduce the amount of short-circuit current to extend the life of these power semiconductor devices.”
