DENSO and NTT DATA are working together to build a shared EV battery dataspace for the sharing of information about emissions and recycling in the battery industry.

“The new battery regulation currently being reviewed in Europe will require disclosure of CO₂ emissions and the resource recycling rate throughout battery life cycles to the European Commission,” says DENSO. “In the future, when Japanese companies sell [electrified vehicles] in the European market, they will be required to meet this regulation. To make this possible, it is necessary to build a common platform for securely sharing data between suppliers in the value chain, instead of requiring respective companies to meet the regulation individually.”

According to DENSO, NTT DATA has worked with NTT and NTT Com to develop a platform for the dataspace and to set up Japan’s dataspace.

The two companies plan to commercialize the dataspace by the end of FY 2023, and will expand it to encompass more industries in the future.
