Littelfuse SiC MOSFET provides fast switching for power electronics

Circuit protection specialist Littelfuse has introduced its first series of silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFETs.

In March, Littelfuse made a majority investment in the SiC technology development company Monolith Semiconductor. The LSIC1MO120E0080 Series, with a voltage rating of 1,200 V and ultra-low (80 mΩ) on-resistance, is the first SiC MOSFET to be released by the new partnership.

This device is optimized for high-frequency switching applications, and is designed to provide a combination of ultra-low switching losses and ultra-fast switching speeds that’s unavailable with traditional power transistor solutions.

Typical applications for these new SiC MOSFETs include power conversion systems such as solar inverters, switch mode power supplies, motor drives, high-voltage DC/DC converters, battery chargers and induction heating.

The LSIC1MO120E0080 Series SiC MOSFET is available in TO-247-3L packaging and provided in tubes in quantities of 450. Sample requests may be placed through Littelfuse distributors.

“Our new SiC MOSFET series is a critical milestone in our journey to become a leading component supplier in the power semiconductor industry,” said Littelfuse’s Michael Ketterer. “Our SiC MOSFET application support network is prepared to help customers enhance the performance of their existing designs, as well as to assist those developing new power converter products.”
