Last week GM spokesman Rob Peterson assured us that they will sell 10,000 Volts by the end of 2011. This week the September sales numbers were released, a mere 723 units. 3,895 Volts to date.

The good news is September sales were up 240% from August. A rate of growth that needs to be maintained to meet their goal. GM attributes the lackluster summer sales to a shut down of the Detroit factory where the Volt is built. Down time they say was needed to upgrade equipment so they can produce the cars faster and sell them in all 2,600 Chevrolet dealers across the US.
