LEAD delivers dry electrode systems for high-volume solid-state battery lines

LEAD Intelligent Equipment has delivered multiple dry electrode mixing and coating systems to established battery manufacturers, automotive original equipment manufacturers and solid-state battery firms in and outside China. LEAD highlights the system’s capability to adapt to both all-solid-state battery processes and existing liquid electrolyte battery lines, which it says helps customers manage technology transitions and maximize equipment utilization.

LEAD says that its dry electrode mixing and coating system operates at mechanical speeds of up to 100 meters per minute, supporting single-line production capacities between 5 and 8 GWh. The system is compatible with electrode sheets up to 1,000 millimeters in width and thicknesses from 40 to 300 microns. It also enables simultaneous processing of two to six dry electrode sheets, aiming to provide scalability for large-scale battery manufacturing.

The company says field validation has shown these systems reduce energy consumption by more than 35 percent and lower material plus manufacturing costs by over 15 percent. Recent deliveries include dry electrode coating, lamination and decaling, electrode framing, high-speed stacking, and cold/hot pressing formation and aging machines.
