South Korean battery company Samsung SDI has introduced a new battery brand called PRiMX (Prime Battery for Maximum Experience).
The PRiMX cells are composed of a high-nickel cathode and a silicon anode. The company says these materials shorten the lithium-ion transport distance and time by reducing resistance inside the battery cell.
According to Samsung SDI, the cells are the result of an improved quality control process which includes selecting high-quality materials and designs at the development phase, using deep learning-based AI in manufacturing and shipping to identify defects and “examining about 500 quality items throughout the entire manufacturing process.”
The company also says it will apply the new brand and quality control process to all batteries it produces.
