Microchip partners with Delta Electronics on SiC for power management

US semiconductor manufacturer Microchip Technology has signed a new partnership agreement with Taiwan-based Delta Electronics to use Microchip’s mSiC products and technology in Delta’s designs.

Delta intends to leverage Microchip’s experience and advanced technology in silicon carbide (SiC) and digital control to accelerate time to market of its offerings for high-growth market segments such as electric mobility, automation and infrastructure.

The agreement prioritizes the companies’ resources to validate Microchip’s mSiC products to fast-track implementation in Delta’s designs and programs. It also includes technical training, insight into research and development activities and early access to product samples.

“SiC is increasingly important in sustainable power solutions because of its wide-bandgap properties, which enable smaller and more efficient designs for high-voltage, high-power applications at a lower system cost,” said Clayton Pillion, Vice President of Microchip’s high-power solutions business unit.
