Littelfuse introduces automotive-grade 3 kA high-surge AC current protector for EVs

Littelfuse, a US electronics company, has launched a new AC surge current protector series for EVs and hybrids operating in harsh environments.

The Pxxx0S3N-A Automotive Grade SIDACtor Protection Thyristor Series in DO-214AB (SMC) package offers high power density and can withstand surge currents up to 3 kA (8/20 µs) and voltages up to 6 kV with low clamping voltage. This small SIDACtor protects against severe transients, making it suitable for applications like EVs, OBCs, charging piles, EV wall chargers and energy storage systems. The Pxxx0S3N-A Series SIDACtor Protection Thyristors are available in tape-and-reel quantities of 3,000.

“While the Pxxx0S3N-A SIDACtor Series is suitable for various market segments, including automotive, industrial, and ICT electronics, it is well suited to high-surge current protection in automotive electronics,” said Charlie Cai, Director of Protection Semi Product Marketing, SBU at Littelfuse.
