Exclusive Video: Electric Porsche 911SC

CHARGED visited RebirthAuto in Saint Petersburg, Florida, and shot a rocking video of Rebirth’s custom-built 1978 Porsche 911SC conversion.

Saint Petersburg, Florida is a sleepy retirement town? EVs are sensible, boring golf carts? Watching an all-electric Porsche 911 tool past local landmarks like the new Salvador Dalí Museum and Tropicana Field will make those old ideas disappear like a puddle of gasoline on a Florida summer day.

CHARGED visited Rebirth Auto in Saint Pete, last week, and shot a rocking video of Rebirth’s custom-built 1978 Porsche 911SC conversion. The palm-shaded streets of the lively waterfront district, site of the yearly Grand Prix, are the perfect frame for this work of automotive art.

This baby is built for performance, with a 160-mph top speed and a range of 50 miles on a charge.  A 14.75 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack drives twin Netgain 9-inch motors and a Soliton1 motor controller delivering 400 hp.
