DGeo’s upgrade to its DGIS hazmat shipping software helps shippers find cost savings

DGeo, Labelmaster’s Dangerous Goods (DG) Packaging, Technology and Services Division, has announced new enhancements to its DGIS hazmat shipping software, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform that’s designed to simplify and automate shipping of hazardous materials, including EV batteries and components.

EV batteries, like petroleum products and thousands of other classes of industrial materials, can be dangerous if mishandled, and a complex web of regulations apply to the shipping of Dangerous Goods (DG), as they’re called in the shipping industry. DGeo’s DGIS software is designed to help businesses optimize shipping operations and costs by identifying simpler, more cost-effective ways to ship DG, without compromising safety or compliance.

“DGIS is designed to streamline every step of hazmat transportation and compliance,” DGeo explains. “From classification and packaging to labeling and documentation, DGIS provides guidance across all transportation modes. DGIS ensures regulatory accuracy and identifies shipments eligible for DG exemptions while enabling faster shipments with fewer manual processes.”

The latest enhancements enable DGIS to automatically determine when a product should be classified as “DG” and when it can be downgraded to “partially regulated” or “exempt” status. By taking advantage of exemptions, companies can reduce labeling, packaging and shipping costs.

“Every day, companies unknowingly forfeit savings by missing available compliance exemptions, resulting in over-labeled, over-packaged and over-regulated shipments that inflate costs and bottleneck supply chains,” said Brandon Yost, Vice President of Software, DGeo. “DGIS now identifies more cost-effective shipping options across multiple modes while simultaneously guiding warehouse teams through important hazmat compliance requirements.”

DGIS integrates seamlessly with various TMS, WMS and ERP systems. It gives integration partners, third-party logistics (3PL) providers and value-added resellers (VARs) real-time access to DG data and validation.
