Renascor receives regulatory approval for Australian battery anode material facility

Australian mining company Renascor Resources has received provisional development authorization from South Australia’s Minister for Planning for its proposed commercial-scale battery anode material manufacturing facility in South Australia.

The authorization is required under South Australian legislation for impact assessed developments for the company to be able to construct the downstream portion of the vertically-integrated battery anode material manufacturing operation.

The facility will have the capacity to produce up to 100,000 tonnes per annum of purified spherical graphite (PSG) for use in lithium-ion battery anodes.

The Minister’s authorization is conditioned upon approval of the final detailed design and plans for the facility.

Renascor is currently advancing its co-funded PSG demonstration facility. It plans to commission the water treatment circuit next quarter and start full-scale commissioning during the fourth quarter of 2025. The demonstration facility will inform the detailed design stage and construction and operation of the commercial anode material facility.
