Remy International signs supply agreement with VIA Motors

Remy International (OTC-PINK: RMYI) and VIA Motors have announced a joint agreement to supply Remy’s HVH electric motors for VIA’s plug-in hybrid commercial trucks.

Privately-held VIA offers a lineup of powerful PHEVs that it calls VTRUX, including full-size pickups, vans and SUVs. The company’s eREV powertrain includes a 4.3-liter gas V6, a 300-kW electric motor, and A123’s 24-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Each claims an all-electric range of about 40 miles, and combined fuel economy of 100 mpg.

“We are proud to enter this supply agreement with VIA.  We believe integrating the Remy HVH motor into the VIA eREV powertrain will yield a system with unmatched levels of performance, durability and power density in the light duty commercial segment,” said Remy VP Kevin Quinn.

“VIA plans to ramp up production significantly over the next three years to satisfy demand for clean, fuel-efficient full-size trucks and SUVs,” said VIA CEO Kraig Higginson. “We are looking forward to Remy providing a 300 kW Traction Motor and a 150 kW Generator which, when matched with our own inverter, provides a ground breaking powertrain for our vehicle.”
