Energy 101: Electric Vehicles is the latest in a series of videos on energy-related topics from the US Department of Energy. “Wouldn’t it be pretty cool to do all of your daily driving without ever having to fill up at a gas station?” the narrator asks, then lists some of the advantages of owning a “clean, comfortable and convenient EV” and explains the basics of how EVs and PHEVs work.

This very brief, upbeat pep talk shows drivers happily charging their EVs, and tooling down typical American streets in a Tesla Roadster, a Coda Sedan, a Nissan Leaf, a Chevy Volt and a plug-in Prius (but doesn’t mention any of them by name).

Regular Charged readers won’t learn anything new here, but a person who still has visions of “eco-hippies” driving glorified golf carts just might.
