The new models will be officially revealed in Los Angeles on May 8.
This week electric motorcycle maker Brammo announced long-awaited technical details for its new Empulse and Empulse R electric sport bikes, together with an adrenalin-inducing new video. The new models will be officially revealed in Los Angeles on May 8.
Brammo’s drivetrain was designed and built specifically for an electric motorcycle, and features a 54-hp water-cooled permanent magnet AC motor, an IET six-speed gearbox and the company’s own BPM 15/90 battery modules. Maximum speed is over 100 mph, and range is around 77 miles.
In a first for an electric cycle, both Empulse models have a J1772 Level 2 charging system, allowing riders to take advantage of public charging stations. Brammo’s bikes can be totally recharged in 3.5 hours, and every 10 minutes of charging adds five miles of range.
Founder and CEO Craig Bramscher said, “The Empulse and Empulse R are a milestone for Brammo and the new electric benchmark for the motorcycling industry. I know when I reveal the bikes on May 8th people are going to be blown away by the integrity of the design and the focused presence this motorcycle commands. When we first revealed the Empulse prototype, our customers had some very clear feedback for us and that feedback has inspired much of what you will see in the production version.”
