PowerCell Sweden, which has been developing fuel cell technology for more than a decade, has received an order from a Chinese automotive company for its PowerCell S2 fuel cell stack, which will be used as a hydrogen-based range extender for electrified commercial light-duty trucks.

The PowerCell S2 fuel cell stack is designed for efficient power generation in the range of 5 to 25 kW. The two companies will develop a fuel cell system with the Chinese customer’s methanol reformer.

“We really look forward to a close cooperation with our new customer, to jointly enter the Chinese market for commercial light-duty trucks, with methanol-based fuel cell range extenders,” said PowerCell Sweden Sales Director Andreas Bodén.
