NHTSA awards Tesla Model 3 perfect 5-star safety ratings in every category.

Following in the footsteps of its elder siblings, Tesla’s Model 3 has earned a perfect 5-star safety rating in every category from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

NHTSA performs an extensive range of crash tests on all new vehicles, including frontal crash, side crash and rollover tests. Model 3 achieved the top score in every subcategory.

NHTSA’s Recommended Safety Technologies, including forward collision warning systems, dynamic brake support, crash imminent braking, and lane departure warning features, are all standard on Model 3.

Tesla now holds the distinction of earning 5-Star safety ratings for its entire lineup of vehicles. In some ways, EVs are inherently safer than legacy vehicles. For example, the lack of an engine in the front gives Tesla vehicles longer crumple zones.
