Maersk opens EV battery warehouse in Czech Republic

Maersk has opened a 14,000-square-foot warehouse for EV batteries in Teplice, Czech Republic, which will provide battery repacking, charging and in-depth quality controls, as well as other value-adding services.

Batteries will be delivered by train from the ports of Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Rotterdam, Koper and Rijeka, and can be distributed from Teplice to surrounding car production sites within a few hours.

The warehouse is divided into four independent, fire-resistant compartments, each with thermal monitoring cameras and in-rack sprinklers.

“Our processes are widely audited and approved by car makers and OEMs,” said Leah Offutt, Maersk Central South Europe Managing Director. “We are thrilled to be offering dedicated services for electric car batteries right in the heart of the Czech and German carmaker clusters.”
