German chemical and consumer goods company Henkel has opened a new Battery Test Center at the company’s headquarters in Düsseldorf. 

The new facility is an addition to Henkel’s Battery Engineering Center, which opened in 2023 with the launch of the Battery Application Center. The facilities are part of Henkel’s efforts to strengthen its position as a development partner for automotive OEMs and battery manufacturers in the e-mobility sector.

The TISAX-certified Battery Test Center is equipped with environmental simulation technology with temperature and humidity regulation. It enables engineers to perform tests related to fast charging and discharging, leakage and aging. Henkel’s facilities have the ability to create a digital twin of any battery, apply advanced materials through digital material cards, run scenario simulations, and validate the results in a real-world system, including debonding trials in active battery packs to enable battery circularity.

This facility is the first in Henkel’s planned network of Battery Engineering Centers, which will include locations in the US and China to support cross-regional collaboration.
