Electrify America opens expanded technology campus

US EV charging network Electrify America has opened a new Electrify America Technology Campus near its headquarters in Reston, Virginia.

The 32,000-square-foot facility is designed for advanced validation and stress-testing of equipment and components in real-world conditions. It includes 22 hyper-fast chargers, the Center of Excellence Lab and the Technology Development Lab.

The labs are part of the company’s customer-experience ecosystem, which also includes its 24/7 Network Operations Center, 24/7 Customer Contact Center, field service engineers and preventative maintenance.

More than 35,000 hours of testing have been performed since the original Center of Excellence Lab opened in 2018. This has assisted the company in expediting the introduction of such technologies as 350 kW charging, Plug & Charge capabilities and liquid-cooled cables to deliver the highest charging speeds.

“The comprehensive testing and analysis at our Center of Excellence and Technology Development Labs advance our ability to provide high-quality hyper-fast charging experiences to meet the needs of our customers and develop solutions that benefit the industry,” said Robert Barrosa, President and CEO of Electrify America.
