Elation Hypercars’ 1,427 hp Freedom EV features a drivetrain from Cascadia Motion

Silicon Valley-based Elation Hypercars has announced a strategic partnership with Cascadia Motion to electrify the Elation Freedom hypercar.

Elation calls the Freedom “the first purist, luxury, all-electric hypercar handmade in America.” It features an array of proprietary Elation technologies and an electric drive system developed in partnership with Cascadia.

The lightweight model of the Elation Freedom will produce over 1 megawatt of power, delivering approximately 1,427 hp and 1,440 Nm of combined motor shaft torque. Customers will be able to upgrade their Freedom to produce approximately 1.4 megawatts of power (1,903 hp) for increased high-speed performance. Top speed will be electronically limited to 260 mph, and the target 0-62 mph time is 1.8 seconds.

The Freedom’s integrated structural T-shaped battery pack runs at 1,000 VDC, and includes lithium-manganese-nickel cells. It will have a capacity of 100 or 120 kWh, providing a target range of 300 or 400 miles respectively.

A CCS fast charging option with a power level of up to 350 kW will allow charging up to 80% in as little as 12 minutes.

Cascadia Motion has participated in the design of propulsion systems for electric performance vehicles for such vehicle-makers as Le Mans Prototypes, Hillclimb cars, eWRC, and Formula E, and has also made kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) inverters for Formula One.

Cascadia says its components meet higher requirements for quality, dependability and thermal management compared to the drivetrain technologies used in mass-market EVs.
