Australian super EV does 0-60 in 3.8 seconds

Varley Electric Vehicles, an Australian company that’s been building specialty cars since 1886, unveiled a pair of blazing fast EVs on Friday. The evS450 electric sports car has a top speed of 99 mph, and can do 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds. Its racing cousin, the evR450, is even faster, stopping the heart at 112 mph and 0-60 in 3.8 seconds. The street-legal evS450 will go on sale in January.

Each model features a 24-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, a Tritium Wavesculptor motor controller, and a pair of Ultramotive Technologies three-phase AC motors. Range is about 100 miles, and charging takes eight hours at 230 volts. Charging and other options can be controlled via an iPhone app.
