Air taxi operator Quantum Air has purchased 26 electric planes from Bye Aerospace, including 22 all-electric four-seat eFlyer 4s and 2 two-seat eFlyer 2s. Bye Aerospace will also deliver two future aircraft models currently under development.

Bye aims to be the first FAA-certified all-electric plane in use for general aviation and flight training. In July, the company tested a new 90 kW Siemens SP70D production motor in its eFlyer 2. The company also added an additional battery pack, an updated cowling, a new spinner, and a charging port.

Bye Aerospace CEO George E. Bye, who will join Quantum’s board of advisors, said, “One of Quantum Air’s goals is to disrupt aviation, providing more accessible, cost-efficient, high-speed air transportation solutions – including FAA Part 135 on-demand air taxi travel – to help alleviate the noise and CO₂ emissions challenges that accompany traditional internal combustion aircraft.”

Quantum CEO Tony Thompson said, “With George Bye on our board of advisers, Quantum will tightly integrate with Bye Aerospace, producing a superior flight experience for our customers.”
