Venture capitalist and Tesla board member Steve Jurvetson took the keys to his Model S this week.
Officially, Tesla will begin deliveries of its new electric sedan on June 22. But membership has its privileges, and venture capitalist and Tesla board member Steve Jurvetson took the keys to his Model S this week. Mr. J famously reserved the first unit at a 2009 board meeting. Apparently, CEO Elon Musk had to settle for #2.
According to the company, it has over 10,000 reservations for Model S, which should keep its production line humming for a while.
In this video, the Tesla team gathers around and cheers as Jurvetson makes an impromptu speech to mark the historic moment…
…and drives off into the Silicon Valley sunshine, sporting a license plate that reads “TSLA S1.”
