Michigan-based Azure Dynamics Corporation announced today that it has sold 29 more Ford Transit Connect Electric commercial vehicles. Global sales of the versatile van now exceed $29 million in less than 12 months of production.

"[This order] further demonstrates the value the Transit Connect Electric brings to customers who have shorter delivery routes and frequent stop and go driving conditions," said Scott Harrison, Azure's CEO. "Fleet operators and small businesses worldwide increasingly recognize the value the Transit Connect Electric offers in helping them reduce cost and meet their environmental goals."

Azure provides the powertrains for this electric version of Ford’s ubiquitous Transit Connect, which features a lithium-ion battery from Johnson Controls, and has a range of 50 to 80 miles. This and other EVs are proving an easy sell to commercial fleet operators, as their vehicles usually travel regular routes and return to a central location, making for easy overnight recharging. Azure’s EVs are currently on sale at over 150 Ford commercial truck dealerships in North America, and 13 in Europe.
