Research consortium of Altair, JLR and Danecca funded to create a new design process for EVs

Altair, a computational science and AI company, has received funding from the UK government through the Faraday Battery Challenge in collaboration with automotive manufacturer JLR and battery manufacturer Danecca

The three companies have developed a consortium to develop a new design process for EVs.

The new approach will develop vehicle prototypes using Altair technology. The new vehicle models will have lighter bodies that offer more battery space without adding weight. JLR will also use Altair’s C123 three-stage body-in-white concept development process. Optimization will be done using Altair OptiStruct, a finite element analysis (FEA) solver in Altair’’s HyperWorks design and simulation platform.

“Altair’s simulation and data analytics tools will enable the consortium to develop a new design process for EVs and batteries, which will help make these vehicles lighter and more energy-efficient,” said Royston Jones, Senior VP of Automotive, Altair.
