Norwegian postal service Posten Norge plans to add around 300 new EVs to its mail distribution fleet. Renault will supply the bulk of the cars, and Nissan will provide a smaller number.
The service already has some 900 EVs in the fleet. Posten Norge’s policy is to use environmentally friendly vehicles in applications where they have been proven to be operationally and financially viable, using different types of vehicles for different routes. The new cars are small vehicles that will primarily be used in densely populated areas and for medium-length routes throughout the country.
“This represents a milestone in our environmental work,” says CEO Dag Mejdell. “Posten Norge is one of the Nordic region’s biggest transport operators and our CO2 emissions are quite large. We are now seeing the rather significant results from the measures we have implemented. The purchase of new electric cars is one of the major contributors to us meeting our environmental targets.”
