Car and Driver reports that Nissan plans to show a Juke concept using the new e-Power drive system at the Tokyo auto show this fall.
The e-Power system, which Nissan introduced in the Note in November, is a series hybrid that pairs a 1.2-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine with a power generator and inverter. It shares some components with the LEAF, including the EM57 traction motor, but has a battery pack about 1/20 the size of the the LEAF’s.
When the Juke e-Power eventually reaches the market, it’s expected to carry a price tag of around $20,000. There’s no word on whether it will be offered in the US.
