NEVS moves 9-3 series EV closer to production

Swedish/Chinese EV maker NEVS, heir to the Saab brand, will display its new 9-3 series EV at this week’s CES Asia in Shanghai. The company says the 9-3 has already been through comfort, ride and handling testing, and will be brought to market in 2018. It claims to have 150,000 orders from Chinese companies already.

The new NEVS 9-3 features a range of 300 km, over-the-air software updates, and a “world-class filter of cabin air.” According to NEVS, the Always Clean Air Cabin has a filter efficiency up to 99%, and takes less than a minute to reduce the hazardous particle levels for PM 2.5 from 500 to 50 µg/m3.

The company says it also has plans for an SUV called the 9-3X.

NEVS will be testing the new 9-3 with a ride-sharing pilot in Tianjin, a city of 15 million inhabitants. The company will provide both EVs and mobility services for the pilot.

“We are excited by this great opportunity to develop smart, sustainable mobility solutions together with a progressive city as Tianjin, and develop them in full scale with real people in real life situations, with the vision to create a future integrated urban mobility solution,” says NEVS President Mattias Bergman.
