Honda and Yamaha have partnered with Saitama City, Japan to evaluate and test electric motorcycles. The pilot is part of the city’s E-Kizuna Project, which aims to promote the spread of EVs.
Evaluation testing will utilize Honda and Yamaha’s electric technology and Saitama City’s existing infrastructure. Electric motorcycles will be tested in the Class 1 category (electric motor with rated output of 0.60 kW or less).
A rental and battery exchange service for electric motorcycles will be open to the public at the Saitama-Shintoshin train station. An electric motorcycle sharing scheme is under consideration as the next step.
