Green Watt Power introduces EV charger for 400 V batteries

Green Watt Power, a maker of EV chargers and DC-DC converters, has introduced a charger designed for EVs, including material handling vehicles, motorcycles, scooters and e-carts. It will be available starting in November of 2022.

The Emerald Charger, or EVC-420-6600, is a 6.6 kW liquid-cooled charger with CAN communications and an operating temperature range of -40° to 85° C. It also has a universal input range of 90 to 264 VAC, an input frequency range of 47 to 63 Hz and a 20 A output for 400 V lithium-ion batteries.

Green Watt Power says it is “believed to be the smallest size available.” The Emerald Charger’s overall size is 11.7 x 7.4 x 2.8 inches, and it weighs 6 kg. Green Watt Power says the fully-potted package has an IP67 rating.

It includes OVP, OCP, SCP, OTP and UVLO protections, and the company says, “With efficiencies up to 95%, the Power Factor Correction (PFC) is 0.99 at 110 Vin.”
