Energica Motor Company has received NHTSA and EPA certification, clearing the way for its Energica Ego electric sport bike to be sold in the US. Deliveries are planned for the third quarter of this year, and the first batch is almost sold out.
Energica, located in northern Italy’s Motor Valley, grew out of a company called CRP that has 40 years of experience supplying parts for many of the major Formula 1 racing teams.
“All the experience we have in racing is now moved to the road bikes, and we put a lot of passion into our work,” said company CFO Andrea Vezzani.
As Charged found out when the Energica Ego was presented to the press last year, this is truly a superbike for the connoisseur of speed, with 0-60 mph acceleration of 3 seconds and a top speed of 150 mph. According to the company, range is about 150 km with an average speed of 80 km/h, and 190-200 km with an average speed of 60 km/h.
Prices start at $34,000.
