Electrogenic launches new EV conversion kits for Land Rover Defender, Jaguar E-Type and Porsche 911

British EV conversion specialist Electrogenic has expanded its range of drop-in EV conversion kits. The new products, which will be offered by Electrogenic’s Powered by Electrogenic arm, address three of the UK’s favorite classic cars: the Land Rover Defender, Jaguar E-Type and Porsche 911.

The drop-in kits, which were developed and engineered in-house, will be offered globally through an international network of installation partners. Each kit can be installed while preserving the vehicle’s existing structure and architecture, so all conversions are reversible.

Electrogenic believes in developing and manufacturing its own technology, which includes in-house designed software, printed circuit boards, digital dashboards, bespoke battery management systems and vehicle charging technology.

“Our range of drop-in kits will sympathetically inject these much-loved cars with cutting-edge EV drivetrain technology, delivering exceptional driveability, performance and efficiency—future-proofing these iconic machines and readying them for the fast-approaching age of sustainable, low-carbon motoring,” said Steve Drummond, co-founder and Director of Electrogenic.

All Powered by Electrogenic drop-in kits feature single-speed, fixed-ratio transmissions. All variants are capable of up to 6.6 kW AC charging, as well as rapid CCS charging.

Land Rover Defender

The Land Rover Defender EV conversion packages are available for all pre-2016 Defender 90, 110 and 127 models. There are three variants. The E62 kit packs a 62 kWh battery pack supplying a 120 kW water-cooled motor, and promises a real-world range of 120 miles in mixed driving. The E70 and E93 packages include 70 kWh and 93 kWh of battery capacity, and deliver 130 and 150 miles of range, respectively. Each features a 150 kW motor.

Batteries are packaged under the bonnet and beneath the boot floor, so passenger and luggage space are not compromised.

Jaguar E-Type

The Jaguar E-Type conversion kits are compatible with both E-Type coupes and convertibles. The E43 kit features a 43 kWh battery and a 120 kW water-cooled motor, and offers 150 miles of real-world range. The E62r kit packs a larger 62 kWh battery and promises a range of 200+ miles.

The high-performance E48s variant pairs a 48 kWh battery with a high-output 150 kW motor. It boasts a 0-60 time under 5 seconds and a range of 160+ miles.

Porsche 911

Two variants of the 911 drop-in kit are offered—compatible with G-body and 964 911s. Both include 62 kWh battery packs located where the fuel tank and gas engine were, improving the weight distribution versus a petrol car, and both promise 200+ miles of range.

The E62 package features a 160 kW motor, and is said to hit 60 mph in under 5 seconds—not far from the performance of a legacy 911. For those who need even more speed, the E62s kit packs a 240 kW motor that gets to 0-60 mph in just 3.8 seconds.
