Better Place inks deal to provide hundreds of EVs to Israeli rental company

Eldan will acquire several hundred Renault Fluence Z.E. electric cars from Better Place in 2012. It will be the first company to rent electric cars in Israel.

On Monday, EV pioneer Better Place announced an agreement to provide cars to the Eldan Group, the largest car rental company in Israel. Eldan will acquire several hundred Renault Fluence Z.E. electric cars from Better Place in 2012. It will be the first company to rent electric cars in Israel.

Eldan’s customers will be able to buy monthly subscription packages, and will take advantage of the extensive infrastructure that Better Place has built in the country, including charging stations and the company’s unique battery switch stations.

Shai Dahan, co-CEO of Eldan, said, “Eldan and Better Place are both companies that have grown in the Israeli market and are leaders in their industry. It is only natural that we work together. We are pleased to be the first company to offer drivers the opportunity to enjoy a new driving experience, and we call upon other companies to join the green trend with us.”

Moshe Kaplinsky, CEO of Better Place Israel, commented, “The agreement with Eldan enhances Better Place's position in the Israeli market. Eldan and Better Place will provide customers with a comprehensive service package, which will provide an exceptional driving experience. I am convinced that the expected demand from companies that have already expressed their commitment to switch to electric cars by signing agreements with us will be strong and I am pleased that Eldan has identified this market demand.”
