We don’t know yet if it’s a right-wing conspiracy to make people think EVs burst into flames, or a left-wing conspiracy to make right-wing commentators burst into flames.
It’s a conspiracy. We’re sure of that much. We don’t know yet if it’s a right-wing conspiracy to make people think EVs burst into flames, or a left-wing conspiracy to make right-wing commentators burst into flames, but something like this couldn’t have just happened, could it?
The scene so far: Fire in rich dude’s garage destroys Fisker Karma and two other cars. Fire department says the fire started with the Karma. Fisker sends in the men in black, states that the battery pack is intact, couldn’t have caused the fire, implies that “fraud or malicious intent” may be involved. Rich dude gets huffy, lawyers up as media circus descends on his house, and various “pundits” and “gurus” start putting in their two cents. Liberal media emphasize Fisker’s statement, conservative media emphasize the loans Fisker got from the DOE.
The latest: The NHTSA has now opened an investigation, so we’re pretty sure the facts will come out sooner or later. When they do, we'll bring you in-depth coverage of what really happened.
