ENNOVI introduces new production process for low-voltage EV battery cell contacting systems

ENNOVI, a provider of mobility electrification solutions, has introduced a new process for producing flexible circuits for low-voltage signals in EV battery cell contacting systems. “While flexible printed circuits (FPC) are often employed in these systems, they are the most expensive component in the current collector assembly,” says the company. “ENNOVI’s flexible die-cut circuit (FDC)… Read more »

Microchip’s new plug-and-play mSiC gate driver works out of the box to reduce high-voltage design time

Microchip Technology has added a new offering to its line of silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductor solutions. The new 3.3 kV XIFM plug-and-play mSiC gate driver uses the company’s patented Augmented Switching technology, and is designed to work out of the box with preconfigured module settings to reduce design and evaluation time. “The complex development work… Read more »

Voltage surge and transient suppression in EV chargers

Anything powered by an external source of electricity needs to be protected from voltage transients and surges, as it is not a question of whether such hazards will occur, but rather how often they will occur (and of what severity they will be). As might be expected, there are internationally agreed-upon regulations for surge and… Read more »

Toshiba releases new photovoltaic photocoupler for automotive solid-state relays

Toshiba has introduced a photovoltaic output photocoupler for solid-state relays for automotive equipment with improved minimum open voltage. The new AEC-Q101-compliant TLX9910 photovoltaic coupler gates high-voltage power MOSFETs in solid-state semiconductor relays. Together with a high-voltage power MOSFET, TLX9910 can achieve high-voltage and high-current switchings that photo relays cannot, according to the company. Its main… Read more »

Pickering Electronics releases new high-voltage SMD reed relays

Pickering Electronics, a manufacturer of reed relays, has introduced new high-voltage surface-mount reed relays for semiconductor testers, medical equipment testing, EV charge point testing and monitoring solar cell PV efficiency. The new Series 219 high-voltage surface-mount device (SMD) reed relay can switch up to 1 kV and is the only surface-mount high-voltage relay available on… Read more »
