In this presentation, Daimler Truck's Dr. Quentin Werner, Senior Engineering Electromagnetics/eMachines (EVs), will discuss the challenges faced during the design of electric machines for heavy-duty applications and also the chances offered by this application.

He will discuss the specific requirements of these applications compared to passenger cars. Covering the different aspects of the electric drive design, it discusses the potential and the challenges for each solution but also the chances for the development of alternative technologies, topologies and materials.

Dr. Quentin Werner was born in France in 1991. He studied at the ENSEM in Nancy France, where he received his Master in Electrical Engineering in 2013. After his master's, Quentin did a PhD Thesis at his University in collaboration with Daimler, where he had several positions in the advanced engineering department for electrical drives in Stuttgart between 2013 and 2020. After one year at Delta Electronics, Quentin came back to Stuttgart in April 2022 where he is now working on electric machines for heavy-duty applications.
