(Updated Schedule: Session moved from Tuesday, Sep 1 to Thursday, Sep 3 at 10:30 am EDT)

The COMSOL Multiphysics® modeling and simulation software contains various tools for creating and running battery models. The level of detail ranges from single-reaction lumped cell models, used for simulating temperature distributions on large-scale battery modules and packs, to multireaction high-resolution electrode geometries on the nm-level, used for capacity fade, and design optimization of the various cell components and chemistries.

This talk will present an overview of various battery modeling approaches for thermal, performance, abuse, and capacity fade (aging) simulations. The talk will include live demonstrations of these concepts using the COMSOL Multiphysics® software.
