Battery systems often face challenges from various degradation mechanisms, which can lead to reduced efficiency, capacity fade, and even failure over time, ultimately impacting the performance and lifespan of the battery. The COMSOL Multiphysics® software enables the modeling of electrochemical degradation by incorporating arbitrary side reactions, such as solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) formation, lithium plating, hydrogen and oxygen evolution, metal corrosion, and more. Additionally, it supports the simulation of mechanical and chemical degradation across different battery chemistries.

In this webinar, we will discuss the capabilities of COMSOL Multiphysics® for modeling degradation in batteries and demonstrate the process of building and running a capacity fade model.
