A virtual prototype of a 25 kW battery charging module is created with the Saber tool suite. Design considerations include charging and discharging profiles, power conversion from grid to battery, control algorithms, stability analysis, and detailed operation of SiC FETs.

The charging module is composed of a front-end 3-phase AC-DC converter with Power Factor Correction (PFC) delivering an intermediate 800 V DC bus voltage, followed by a Dual Active Bridge (DAB) DC-DC converter delivering either constant voltage (between 250 and 400 V DC) or constant current (up to 56 A) to the battery.

Characteristics such as overall loss, THD, Power Factor, output impedance and open loop gain are simulated in either time or frequency domain, under nominal conditions as well as under statistical variations.

Join this webinar to learn how the SaberEXP and SaberRD simulation environments allow power electronic hardware and software to be optimized for robustness and shortened design cycle times.
