JetSuite to buy up to 100 Zunum Aero hybrid planes

Private aviation company JetSuite has announced plans to add up to 100 Zunum Aero electrified aircraft to its fleet.

Washington-based Zunum Aero, profiled in the July/August issue of Charged, is developing a “hybrid-to-electric” plane with a capacity of 12 passengers, a maximum cruise speed of 340 mph and a take-off distance of 2,200 feet.

The aircraft is optimized for distances of up to 1,000 miles, making it a perfect fit for the short-haul private travel offered by JetSuite.

Zunum says it is on track for flight testing in 2019, and plans to have its plane available for delivery in 2022.

“JetSuite, with its tradition of shifting paradigms in aviation, is an ideal partner for us in this launch collaboration,” said Zunum Aero CEO Ashish Kumar. “We have a shared vision for fundamentally transforming and improving the way that people live and travel.”

“We appreciate the boldness required to change the status quo, and we see it in spades at Zunum,” said Alex Wilcox, founder and CEO of JetSuite. “We share Zunum’s vision for hybrid-to-electric aviation.”
