Chinese EV startup Seres (formerly SF Motors) has selected a new co-CEO, James Taylor, and announced that it will delay the launch of its SF5 EV crossover in the US. Speaking to a visiting group from China, Taylor, a former senior executive at GM, said the company’s R&D is still led by its Silicon Valley team. That news comes after the company eliminated 47 positions across the US, 17 of which were from its Silicon Valley team.
Seres opened pre-orders for the SF5 in April. To date, Seres has applied for more than 1,000 technical patents in China and the US.
Speaking to the visiting group, Taylor said, “Seres has decided to delay the launch of the production version of the SF5 crossover in the US as uncertainties of the US auto market remain, and the company will focus on the launch of the product in China.”
