Audi announces US prices for A3 Sportback e-tron

Audi has announced pricing for the first electrified Audi to be sold in the US – the 2016 A3 Sportback e-tron.

Audi’s new PHEV will be available in three trim levels: the entry-level Premium (sic) package starts at $37,900; Premium Plus goes for $42,000; and the top-end Prestige Model is $46,800.

The A3 Sportback e-tron features a 1.4-liter TFSI engine, a six-speed transmission and a liquid-cooled electric motor, producing 204 hp and 258 lb-ft. of torque. The 8.8-kWh lithium-ion battery pack is packaged beneath the rear seat, allowing space for a usable trunk.

Four driving modes are available: EV; Hybrid; Hold Battery and Charge Battery. Audi has partnered with Bosch to offer professional home charger installation, and with SunPower for solar power systems.

The 2016 A3 Sportback e-tron will appear at dealerships nationwide in October.
