This session will provide an overview of the various safety certification schemes for various EVSE types: cordsets, AC and DC types. Focus is on North American and European/Global Certifications and related regulations. For cordset types, understanding the various global market requirements is key for the global launch of an Electric Vehicle. Additionally, commercial vehicles and e-mobility vehicles often utilize non-standard or proprietary charging systems and protocols which still must meet applicable safety requirements.

Presented by Rich Byczek, global technical director for Transportation Technologies at Intertek, based in Plymouth, MI. He has over 20 years of experience in automotive product development and validation testing, 16 of which have been spent at Intertek. Rich is experienced in the areas of energy storage, audio/infotainment equipment and EMC testing. Rich sits on several SAE, UN, IEC, UL and ANSI standards panels, focusing on electric vehicle, battery, and e-mobility technologies. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan.
